Word Off The Tweets: #VaginalHealth
Ladies, the Vagina is one of the most important body parts to a woman and the men that are romatically involved with them. Like someone once said, “…this woman (the vagina) must remain pretty.”
This week on Word Off The Tweets, we bring you serialised tweets on Vaginal Health from @Cherox
Ladies, can we talk vaginal health? There’s no reason I should walk up close to you and smell stock fish.
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
If you like bathe every few hours that smell won’t go away. You more than likely have a case of bacterial vaginosis. Only treatment will fix
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
Wash your vagina excessively, use douches or worse use those deodorants? You might worsen the issue by disrupting the natural vaginal flora.
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
When you’ve cleaned out all the good bacteria while trying to get rid of the bad vaginal, you leave yourself open to yeast infections
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
What’s a yeast infection? When the naturally occurring yeast in your vagina grows out of control due to some changes in your vagina.
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
Common causes of vaginal yeast infections: wet clothing, pregnancy, wiping from back to front, tight clothing that restrict air flow
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
Other causes of yeast infections, certain positions during sex and sugar (internally & externally so that whipped cream isn’t a good look)
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
What are symptoms ofvaginal yeast infections? Itchiness and burning in the vagina, white clumpy discharge, redness in the vaginal area
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
But these symptoms don’t always mean a yeast infection. Self diagnosis isn’t recommended, it can cause more problems. See a doctor. Please
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
When you see a doc, they can confirm the diagnosis. Treatment can be pills (vaginal & oral), creams or a combo of the two
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
Now back to bacterial vaginosis (BV), what is it? It’s a infection of the vagina caused by bacteria.
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
@pholaaa1 Sex position most commonly associated w/yeast infections? Doggy. Its easier for bad flora to migrate to the vagina during thrusts
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
Common causes of BV: Most common, a new sexual partner or multiple sexual partner. However its not sexually transmitted.
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
Other causes of BV, a cut or tear around the vagina, dirty (hands/toys) or food entering the vagina and improper hygiene
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
Symptoms of Bacterial vaginosis: off white vaginal discharge with that FISHY SMELL! There’s no pain or itchiness associated with it though
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
Sometimes, there is no discharge or smell. That’s why it’s important to see a doctor for diagnosis.
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
Bacterial Vaginosis can be harmless but when untreated it is more damaging than a fishy odor. It can cause PID which leads to INFERTILITY
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
Treatment of BV is easy… some antibiotics (metronidazole or clindamycin) orally or vaginally. But BV has a high rate of occurrence
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
@4elleboogie @madamneka The problem is greek yogurt that is available commercially often has sugar in it which causes reoccurrence.
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
@originalmgbeke @kingtoruble Ofe Okazi :/The diet can change the smell of vaginal discharge every once in a while, but its rare.
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
@thebigtyme umm… actually oral sex can lead to BV if the giver of it has any sort of gum disease or just has bad oral hygiene.
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
@mss_sassy The vagina always has discharges, but we need to pay attention to the discharges to keep ourselves healthy. She needs a doc visit
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
@4elleboogie @madamneka this chick, always smells fresh in the morning and RANK by lunchtime. It bothered me. I ranted. As per usual
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
@4elleboogie @madamneka But also, I realize that many people don’t get properly educated about their health, sexual or otherwise.
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
Many chicks will see a perfectly normal vaginal discharge and rush and buy Canesten or use Dettol to wash out their vaginas. Tis wrong
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
If you are over 14, you need to learn your vagina and its importance. Many times neglect and ignorance leads to future reproductive issues.
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
If you are a woman and are sexually active ( even if you form holy) please visit a gynecologist at least once every year.
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
If you are a woman who has never been sexually active but are over 21, please visit a gynecologist at least once every 2-3 years.

@4elleboogie I don’t think there is a single nice way to tell someone they have a body odor, much less vaginal odor.
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
@4elleboogie This is why men are important though, if you can sleep with a woman, you should be able to tell her “babe see a doc”
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
@asemota @oothenigerian#VaginalHealth shouldn’t scare the libido out of anyone, vaginas need to be healthy for women to be healthy.
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
@asemota @oothenigerian Fine you don’t need to know how it is fixed, but you should know how to recognize that it needs to be fixed. VAGINA
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
VAGINA… I think this is the word disturbing @oothenigerianVAGINA!!!! VAGINA!!! Most women have 1
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
@lanre_olagunju Good question, why should a sexually inactive woman see a gynecologist? A Yeast infection is not sexually transmitted nor BV
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
@lanre_olagunju Also cancer screening. Cervical cancer and Ovarian cancer diagnosis begin with a pelvic exam. So virgins need gynecologists
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
@asemota @oothenigerian If my driver didn’t tell me my car needed servicing and it broke down on the road, FIREABLE OFFENCE… VAGINA
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
@madamneka @4elleboogie Sex position most linked to yeast infections, doggy. Bad bacteria transfers from the anus to vagina during thrusts
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
@imagervet Every time I see the Canesten section in MedPlus, I cringe. THAT is not our problem! we need to take better care of vaginas
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
@busolaa Somehow in this society we’re simply not taught the importance ofvaginal health, hygiene and care. It’s not innate. I learned.
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
@jugger_nought @oothenigerian believe it or not some women have 2 vaginas others have none. They’re still women So most women have 1 VAGINA.
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
Are we tired of hearing about vaginal health? Should I talk about menstruation next? Lots of PCOS, fibroids & endometriosis among us women
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
@imagervet YES! YES! YES! Its amazing how many people don’t teach their daughters to always wipe from FRONT to BACK. The opposite is so bad
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
@bimxy Believe it or not, do not use soap to clean a vagina. It’s bad for you, kills off all the good bacteria, can lead to yeast infections
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
@bimxy Best way to keep the vagina clean, rinse the outer area with water then use a wet washcloth to clean the inner area.
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
@bimxy Do not fill up the vaginal canal with water (water douching) that also kills good bacteria.
— Che! (@CheRox) July 10, 2012
@bimxy It’s really not recommended. If you must use it, never allow it to enter the vagina. Water is enough for a clean vagina.

Uche, I was off Twitter when you tweeted these yesterday, so, I am happy to catch up with your tweets here.
I am a freak when it comes to health and hygeine. My husband sometimes gets frustrated with my OCD, so, it is kinda shameful that I wash my V-babe with soap when bathing.
Now I know beter. *Types Vaginal Health in Google search bar*

hello,do you think washing the V with water alone wil make it clean? Also, changing of panties thrice a day, could it prevent vagina infections? Thanks
