Nigerian Women’s Tweets About The Women Killed Giving Polio Vaccines In Kano.
Female health workers administering anti-polio vaccine were killed on Friday in Kano. A similar attack was also carried out on health workers in Pakistan recently. Although nobody has yet claimed responsibility for these attacks, it is believed that it is related to previous campaign against polio vaccination by some religious sects. The is so sad because WHO has suspended the vaccination in Pakistan because of these attacks, just when Polio is on the verge of being eradicated with just Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Nigeria still reporting infections.
Here are some reactions from Nigerian women on Twitter to this sad incident.

Health workers are not your enemy. They are servants with little or no compensation compared to the risk of the job #Kanoshooting — Ifeoma Asiegbu (@NaijaEmigranta) February 8, 2013

This is happening in present day Nigeria? This wicked act is only a drag-back in proper healthcare provision, and the community suffers the most on the long run. Positive change cannot be denied, however they try.
