A Guide To Confident Dating

By  Lizanne Dirkx

Being nervous on a first date is certainly not uncommon. It can even add a bit of excitement to the evening. However, too much anxiety can spoil the whole thing. While some women are naturally more confident than others, confidence is a skill that can be learned. Here are some top tips for how to date confidently.

Plan ahead
Scared of awkward silences? Make a list of potential topics that you can fall back on should the conversation dry up unexpectedly. You don’t have to plan out your whole conversations, but one or two ideas could really help you out. Don’t worry if you forget anything once you’re there – just writing down the ideas will help you feel more prepared for the date. You can read lots of relationship advice here – if you feel more prepared, you won’t feel as nervous.

Relax
If you’re already nervous, going with a fancy outfit or something you’ve never worn before might not be the best idea. Wear something you know suits you, and don’t stress too much about your appearance. To work off any nervous energy, you could try exercising before your date. Just make sure you’ve showered before setting off!

 Remember: it’s just a date!
Anxiety, when left unchecked, can leave you feeling desperate for the date to go well. Don’t spend your time wondering what your date is thinking – just enjoy the time together and have fun. If your date is put off by you saying the wrong thing, then chances are it won’t work out in the long term anyway. Use dating as a chance to explore different possibilities.

Think about the person you’re dating
Feeling anxious? It’s likely your date is too! By taking the burden off yourself, you can help the other person to relax and make the date a two-way street. That way, your date will feel more at ease with you too. It can be easy to get caught up in your own feelings to the point where you forget about the other person, but both of you will be experiencing the same thing.

Calm yourself before the date
Before you leave for your date, make sure you relax and breathe deeply. You could listen to a relaxation CD or practise some meditation. Being more relaxed during your date will allow you to spend all that nervous energy on being confident and fun to be around.

Have fun!
Meeting new people should be fun. The more you feel positive about having a good time, the bigger the chance you actually will! Even if the chemistry isn’t there, you can still relax and enjoy yourself. And if the chemistry is there, you’ll be better prepared to take things further.

Many people feel nervous while dating, but that shouldn’t stop you enjoying yourself. If you’ve been feeling too anxious to get out there and meet people, online dating can help. By using websites such as eHarmony (www.eharmony.co.uk) you can even be sure you’ll have things in common with your date before you meet them in real life, so all that’s left is to see if there’s a spark and you can have fun together.

Confidence as far as speaking is concerned is the most attractive part as well as the strength of any conversation, whether one is addressing a group or a gathering, your friends or counterparts and most importantly the opposite sex, confidence is definitely the central part and thus paramount to a conversation. http://bit.ly/Wq8f2L
